Oh no I got nail polish remover on the coffee table and the top layer of color came off?!?!?

Ok I was painting my nails on a paper towel and some nail polish remover seeped through the paper towel and the wood is like a dark cherry color and it looks like white/tan now in that spot. How do I fix it before my dad gets home??? Please help! ThanksOh no I got nail polish remover on the coffee table and the top layer of color came off?!?!?
There are furniture markers now that you could color the spot in. It won't look 100% better, but it will not look as obvious!Oh no I got nail polish remover on the coffee table and the top layer of color came off?!?!?
you don't

nail polish remover is acetone a very strong paint remover

as a matter of fact you can buy it by the quart or gallon at a paint store instaed of those little bottles
you could probably get some wood stain that closely resembles the color of the table - go to your local hardware store and they'll be able to point you in the right direction
You stripped off the finish on the coffee table. Own up to it quick and maybe you'll get a lighter sentence. It has to be re-finished.
Shoe polish works but you will have to match it as close as you can get to the color of the wood in order to get it to look like it was not damaged just spread on thinly and then rub it in and then to seal it polish if with some furniture polish

Or you can use a crayon similar to the color of the wood apply as you would the top tip above in same order Good Luck !
There's really nothing you can do to ';fast fix'; the table and it depends if it's an all wood table or laminate.. You may have pretty much ruined the table... He may be able to fix it- so you'll just have to tell him..

Wipe the table with a clean barely damp cloth.... and forget about your manicure you'll probably have some laboring chores to do if the table was nice and fairly new !

Prepare to hear.. ';We can NEVER have nice things'; or ';you should know better !';

Good luck
Yikes! I guess you'll consider that a lesson learned. Now you know paper towel isn't ';liquid'; proof. Next time use a plastic placemat or something that doesn't soak up anything that might spill, or don't do your nails at the coffee table.

There are some self-repair products and stains that might at least improve the damage. I would go to a good hardware store and and ask for help. Taking a picture of the damage would help too. Good Luck!
